Digital forensic investigations

Litigation and corporate investigations attempt to answer the questions "Who knew, what, and when?" CAForense forensic technology professionals can help you decipher those relationships between individuals and entities. This is done through the data traces found on electronic devices. Our experts can identify those "connections" that link people, entities, transactions and business partners associated with critical events in the analysis. Likewise, we help your company to protect all potentially relevant data sources, as well as to recover deleted data, gain access to password-protected files and identify documents and records of information systems and build a chain of events (lines of time) to be presented by our experts to the authorities.

Expert opinions and technical support in litigation

The evidence and digital data in litigation are relevant when proving a fact. Our CAForense technology experts have the knowledge and experience necessary to present before the authorities, in litigation scenarios, through expert opinions: emails, WhatsApp messages, Word documents, Excel, PDF, among others. Metadata is sensitive information, part of digital files. At CAForense we extract and review this data, identify a date and time, the name of a user, the size of a file and in general, any other information that may be useful when proving the fact. At CAForense we can certify with the associated metadata when an email or WhatsApp message was created or sent, or when a file was downloaded from the internet. In general, all electronic communication contains metadata that can be used as evidence in a litigation scenario. Our procedures are based on international standards applied to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of the data, applied from the beginning to the final obtaining of results after processing and analysis, which at the end, are presented by recognized experts in the field.

Advance review of digital data

At CAForense we specialize in reviewing in advance digital evidence that has been collected by different authorities. Our analysts are specialists in different professions, capable of understanding and extracting communications that are of interest to organizations in relation to litigation scenarios. We search, filter and extract those communications that legal teams must know to strengthen their defense strategy based on key information found. We present our results through simple and easy to understand reports. We avoid technicalities and we are cautious in subjective appraisals of the information found.

Forensic backup

In litigation scenarios, backups can be controversial. At CAForense we collect, forensically secure and preserve over time, key digital information for future litigation scenarios. Our forensic technology experts will be able to collect all or part of the information of a project, preserve it and maintain the chain of custody, so that, in an eventual litigation scenario, the legal teams can use that information as part of the process. Our procedures guarantee that the collected evidence was adequately preserved, that the chain of custody was respected and that therefore the integrity of the information has been maintained over time.
Some of the situations that may arise:
• The litigation scenario occurs several years after the Project in question has ended.
• Key employees in the Project no longer work for the company.
• The computers used by the Project employees were formatted.
• The emails were only kept for three months as a consequence of the retention or Backup policy.
• The lawyers requested the backup of these employees, the IT area found them on a hard drive, which, during the forensic analysis, metadata of recent dates was found, indicating that the evidence has not been adequately preserved.

He has more than 13 years of experience in Forensic Computing procedures, digital investigation and advice on Cybersecurity methodologies.

He has been a consultant, detective and investigator.

Master in Information Security (UNIR) and is a Systems Engineer with an emphasis in telecommunications from the Cooperative University of Colombia

Certified as a forensic examiner or ACE (AccessData Certified Examiner), ISO 27001: 2013 internal auditor accredited by the SGS certification company in Colombia, trained by ICITAP in courses that accredit him as an expert witness and expert witness.

NATALIA ARCE

Lawyer with a broad vision of the profession and corporate affairs. Wide experience in consulting for public and private sectors in fraud prevention and complex investigations.

Specialist in Administrative Law and Magister in Law with an emphasis on Labor Law. Advisor and lawyer in prestigious law firms and has independently been a litigator in administrative and labor processes.

As the degree work of the Master of Law, he carried out the investigation "Jurisdictional Faculty of the National Superintendence of Health for POS Services, no POS and exclusions of the POS", which was cited by the Constitutional Court in ruling T-218 of 2018 , as proof that the National Superintendency of Health did not comply with the legal terms to resolve the requests presented within the framework of the jurisdictional power of the Superintendency and consequently the Constitutional Court exhorted said entity to adequately comply with its functions and also exhorted the Attorney General's Office to monitor this task.

Natalia is a Certified Fraud Examiner, CFE, qualification given by the ACFE (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners).
